OrganiCity – Co-creating smart cities of the future, is targeting a new paradigm to European digital city making by focusing on citizens as the main enablers for the creation of novel and sustainable urban services. Three cities, recognised for their digital urban initiatives, (Santander, London and Aarhus) participate in the project and a total of 15 partners are involved.
According to UN projections, 7 in 10 people will live in cities by 2050. This fact, along with the digitization and evolution to the global connected world is pushing the cities to develop the right strategy counting on the key involvement of the citizens.
Under this research project we want to involve the citizen, to hear his voice to know what their lives in the city look like and what their needs are. The OrganiCity consortium will develop citizen-centric testbeds in each city and technological tools to allow the services co-creation. In addition two open calls will be opened to allow companies and organizations, including private initiatives, to use the new facilities and to create solutions that meet citizens’ needs.
