SIROCO PORTS

The power of technology allows data to be obtained, analysed and managed to provide a solution to needs that arise in different sectors.

Digitalisation is one of the main future challenges for ports, as it can offer improvements in the accessibility, safety and sustainability of these infrastructures.

The SirocoPORTS 4.0 project aims to find a comprehensive solution for the digitisation of ports in an efficient and scalable way due to its modular and open design.

The solution is based on the deployment of IoT sensors and robotic agents that have information from the port and transmit it to a software platform where the data is managed and analysed to respond to the different indicators defined by the end user, in this case, the port authority.

SirocoPORTS 4.0 therefore focuses on three demonstrator applications:

  1. Maritime traffic management within the port
  2. Berthing operation
  3. Occupational and environmental safety

With this initiative, TST aims to develop a product equipped with IoT technologies for the detection, location and measurement of parameters, and the subsequent data analytics, all designed to contribute to improving the efficiency, safety and sustainability of ports.

Some of the technologies involved in the project are precise positioning via global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), Bluetooth low energy localisation, artificial intelligence and autonomous mobile robotics.

SirocoPORTS4.0 will be installed and deployed in 3 demonstration applications:

  • Management of maritime traffic within the port
  • Berthing operation
  • Occupational and environmental safety”
