The concepts of IoT and Smart City are being used more and more frequently in many European cities. They are developed from the idea of traditional wireless sensor networks, but with the novelty that a much larger deployment of devices must be managed. The differences between experimental and large-scale implementations have raised several unexpected problems that must be solved to fully develop all city services on an integrated platform. Within this context, the main objective of the Tilas project is to take advantage of the initial results of the different projects related to Smart City, associating them with data from large-scale deployments.<\/p>\n

Large deployments imply new challenges that require the implementation of specific solutions to deal with the problems detected so far. Within the framework of the Tilas project, all these situations were studied and solutions beyond the state of the art were proposed. These solutions encompassed the development of effective cloud services capable of handling the amount of data generated in such deployments, and a common middleware aimed at the exchange of data between devices and servers. Besides, a new and optimized routing protocol that adapts to the size of wireless sensor networks, with security systems for multi-hop and broadcast connections and capable to prevent possible attacks, the adoption of effective device management procedures adapted to the ETSI architecture, including OTAP and MOTAP, the integration of heterogeneous technologies was developed, as well as an integration solution to reduce the visual impact without affecting communications.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
