Recent ICT advances are bringing to reality a world where sensors, actuators and smart portable devices are interconnected into an Internet-of-Things (IoT) ecosystem reaching 50 billion devices by 2015. BUTLER (uBiquitous, secUre inTernet-of-things with Location and contEx-awaReness) is the first european project focused in the integration of existing technologies and creation of new ones, emphasizing pervasiveness, context-awareness and security for IoT. Its major challenges are, from a systemic viewpoint, smart resource management and digital security; and from a user\/service perspective, the pervasiveness (uniformity of performance anytime and anywhere) and awareness (inversely proportional to the degree of knowledge required from users).<\/p>\n

The aim of BUTLER is the design and implementation of an architecture for the integrations to evolve in a secure environment, with efficient resource management, ensuring uniformity of the offerings at any time and place, and intelligently managing information from different data sources.<\/p>\n

TST is leading the Smart Cities use case thanks to its experience in wireless sensor networks, smart parking systems and efficient lighting control. Using our own TSmarT platform, we are deploying a network of Smart Objects (small, autonomous and intelligent nodes) to accomplish with BUTLER\u2019s vision of the future Internet-of-Things.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
